BIM Maximizing ROI, Making the Construction Process Simple — Three Cases Explained
· Root Cause Analysis — If there are Dimensioning Errors in Plan & Section Drawings, BIM helps to make the root cause analysis. BIM identifies the dimensioning error that could result in clashes. If in an Architectural Section of the basement plan drawings, dimensions for all cutouts were shown from the bottom of each cutout, whereas pipe dimensions were shown from the center and top of the pipe, BIM Implementation helps to detect clashes between cutout and pipe as the representation of the two different from each other.
· Constructability Review — BIM also helps to review constructability. BIM identifies clashes like Manhole clashing with structure prior to construction, leading to the solution of shifting manhole location. Moreover, there could be cases of Cable Tray Clashing with Duct in the Basement where BIM Coordination helps to identify the Clash and raise it to consultants, eventually resulting in revision of design.
